How to Split Job Time Across Multiple Days

Modified on Mon, 30 Dec, 2024 at 10:29 AM

When a workshop job needs to be scheduled over multiple days, you can allocate time for each day in the workshop diary. This ensures efficient scheduling and clear visibility of job progress over the specified period.

Steps to Split Job Time

1. Create the Appointment

  1. Navigate to the Workshop Diary:
    • Select Create Appointment.
  2. Set the Date Range:
    • Choose the start and end dates for when the vehicle will be in the workshop.
  3. Raise the Job:
    • Finalise the appointment by creating the job record.

2. Allocate Time Across Multiple Days

  1. Open the Job:
    • Go into the job you just raised.
  2. Access the Scheduling Tab:
    • Select the 'Scheduling' tab.
    • Double-click the relevant loading line to edit the schedule.
  3. Distribute the Time:
    • Enter the time allocation for each day.
    • For example, if the total job time is 0.9 hours, you can allocate 0.3 hours per day across three days.
    • The allocated time will now appear in the workshop diary for each corresponding day.

Example

  • Scenario: A job requires 0.9 hours to complete but spans three days.
  • Solution:
    • Allocate 0.3 hours to Day 1.
    • Allocate 0.3 hours to Day 2.
    • Allocate 0.3 hours to Day 3.
    • This ensures the job is evenly distributed across the diary.

Key Notes

  • Visibility: Allocated times will appear on the diary for each day, providing clear visibility of workload.
  • Flexibility: Time can be adjusted later if the job duration or schedule changes.
  • Efficiency: Properly splitting job time across days helps optimise workshop resource planning.
