Digital Contracts and Distant Selling

Modified on Wed, 30 Sep at 9:47 AM

Navigator's Digital Contracts solution allows documents to be sent to customers electronically for signature, making it particularly useful when completing sales or authorisations remotely.

Instead of asking a customer to visit the dealership simply to sign paperwork, documents can be sent directly to their phone, tablet or computer. The customer reviews the document, signs it electronically and the completed copy is returned to

Navigator.

This helps dealerships manage distant selling more efficiently while maintaining a clear record of what was sent, signed and returned.

How Digital Contracts helps with distant selling

When a customer is purchasing a vehicle remotely, paperwork can otherwise become one of the slowest parts of the process.

Digital Contracts allows you to:

  • Send documents to customers wherever they are

  • Avoid delays caused by printing, posting and returning paperwork

  • Complete documentation without requiring the customer to visit the dealership

  • Give customers time to review documents on their own device

  • Receive signed paperwork back quickly

  • Keep the completed document attached to the relevant Navigator record

  • Maintain a clear audit trail of the signing process

  • Create a more consistent remote sales process across the dealership

This can be particularly useful when customers are purchasing from outside the local area or when much of the sales process has already been completed by telephone, email or online.

Where Digital Contracts can be used

Digital signatures are supported across several areas of Navigator, including:

  • Vehicle sales orders

  • Workshop jobs requiring customer authorisation

This means the same digital process can be used for both vehicle sales and aftersales activity.

How it works

  1. Create or open the relevant document in Navigator.

  2. Select the option to send the document using the Digital Contract function.

  3. The customer receives a link by email or SMS.

  4. The customer opens the document on their device.

  5. They review the information and sign electronically.

  6. The signed document is returned to Navigator.

  7. Navigator stores the completed document against the relevant record.

This provides both the customer and dealership with a much quicker process than exchanging physical paperwork.

Example: selling a vehicle remotely

A customer finds a vehicle online but lives several hours away from the dealership.

The sales process can be discussed by telephone or email and, once the customer is ready to proceed, the relevant sales documentation can be generated in Navigator.

Instead of asking the customer to travel to the dealership to sign the paperwork:

  1. The dealership sends the document digitally.

  2. The customer reviews it from home.

  3. The customer signs electronically.

  4. The signed copy is returned to Navigator.

  5. The dealership can continue progressing the sale.

Digital Contracts therefore helps remove one of the practical barriers to selling vehicles to customers outside your immediate area.

Workshop authorisation

Digital Contracts can also be used when a Workshop needs customer approval before carrying out work.

For example, if additional work is identified after a customer has left the dealership, the relevant document can be sent digitally rather than relying solely on verbal confirmation.

The customer can review and sign the document remotely, with the completed copy retained against the relevant record.
