Backdated Vehicle Stock Analysis: Breakdown by Make

The Challenge

Standard accounting reports, such as the Trial Balance, typically analyse Vehicle Stock at the departmental level, using a single nominal code (e.g., Branch.Department.60.80). This means they cannot provide a detailed breakdown by vehicle make or specific stock record.

The Solution: Using the Schedule Nominal Report

The Schedule Nominal Report is the definitive tool for obtaining a granular, backdated breakdown of your Vehicle Stock:

1. Access the Report:

   • Go to Main Menu > Accounts > Nominal Ledger > Reports > Schedule Nominal.

2. Configure for Vehicle Stock:

   • In the report criteria, enter your specific Vehicle Stock nominal code (e.g., Branch.Department.60.80).

3. Schedule the Postings:

   • The critical step is to select how you want to schedule the nominal postings. For this analysis, you must schedule the report by the Stock Number.

4. Generate Report:

   • Input the required date for the backdated analysis.

   • Select Report.

Result

The system will generate a detailed breakdown of your Vehicle Stock, allowing you to analyse figures by individual Make and Stock Record, providing insight that the standard Trial Balance cannot offer.
