Why Isn't My Sales Ledger Account Clearing to a Nominal Code?

If you've set a sales ledger account to clear to a nominal code but nothing is clearing, this function—usually used for internal accounts—should automatically clear balances to the specified nominal code overnight.

Troubleshooting Steps:

  1. Check Authorisation Settings:
    If the account isn’t clearing, ensure a staff member hasn’t been selected to authorise the process. When authorisation is required, invoices will not clear until approved via the Manager's Toolkit under Internal Authorise. While this adds an extra layer of control, internal costs typically clear without needing authorisation.

  2. How to Resolve the Issue:

    • Navigate to Accounts > Sales Ledger and load the account that isn’t clearing.
    • Go to the Terms tab and note the nominal code.
    • Click Reset—this will clear both the nominal code and any assigned person for authorisation.
    • Re-enter the nominal code and press Save.

Once this is done, the account will clear overnight as intended.
