Re-Aging Demonstrators to Start Aging from Transfer to Saleable Stock

Modified on Mon, 9 Dec at 3:32 PM

Many franchises require stock aging for ex-demonstrator vehicles to reset to zero from the date the vehicle is transferred back into saleable stock. This ensures accurate reporting for stock aging and sales performance.

Scenario Example:

  • A vehicle is used as a demonstrator for 6 months.
  • It is then transferred back to saleable stock and sold one week later.
  • While the vehicle has technically been in stock for 6 months and 1 week, reporting should show it as sold after 1 week in saleable stock.

How to Re-Age Demonstrators:

  1. Transfer the Vehicle:

    • Move the vehicle from the demonstrator category into saleable stock.
  2. Update the "Date in Stock" Field:

    • Immediately after the transfer, edit the "Date in Stock" on the stock record to the current date.
    • This resets the aging count to zero from the transfer date.
  3. Verify Reporting:

    • Check stock reports to ensure the updated date reflects the vehicle’s re-aging correctly.

Benefits:

  • Aligns stock aging with franchise requirements.
  • Provides accurate data for reporting and performance metrics.
  • Prevents confusion about vehicle age when assessing inventory turnover.
