Why Am I Getting the "COSTS POSTED" Error When Trying to Delete a Stock Record?

Modified on Mon, 3 Mar at 11:13 AM

Your "COSTS POSTED" error is preventing you from deleting a stock record because the system requires all associated costs to be fully cleared before allowing deletion. Here’s how you can resolve this issue:

Steps to Resolve the "COSTS POSTED" Error:

1. Check for Remaining Costs

  • Open the stock record in your system.
  • Navigate to the Purchase screen.
  • Select Cost Analysis to review any remaining financial entries.

2. Review and Reverse Costs

  • If costs do not net to zero, you must reverse any outstanding amounts.
  • Costs that may still be associated with the stock record include:
    • Purchase invoices
    • Workshop expenses
    • Other charges (e.g., reconditioning costs, transportation fees)
  • Reverse or correct these transactions before proceeding.

3. Address Other Potential Errors

  • If you receive related errors such as:
    • "PX from stock" – The part-exchange vehicle is still linked to a deal and must be unlinked.
    • "Vehicle Consigned" – The vehicle is still consigned and needs to be un-adopted and deconsigned before deletion.
