How Updates Work In Navigator

Modified on Fri, 7 Feb at 9:08 AM

Navigator updates and patches are scheduled for release on Wednesday evenings, ensuring that the latest improvements and fixes are seamlessly applied. Here’s how the process works:

How Updates Are Applied

1. Automatic Update Download

  • When you start your computer the following morning and log into Navigator, the system automatically downloads the update in the background.
  • There’s no need for manual intervention—this ensures minimal disruption to daily operations.

2. Update Application

  • Once the download is complete, a prompt will appear, confirming that the update has been applied successfully.

3. Restarting Navigator

  • To finalise the update, you will see an option to restart Navigator.
  • While the system will continue to function normally, a restart is recommended to ensure all changes take effect.

Admin Rights and the Update Process

Navigator uses an update process similar to Google’s, powered by Squirrel, which allows updates to be applied without requiring administrator privileges.

  • Admin rights are only needed for the initial installation.
  • Future updates are applied automatically without requiring additional permissions, making the process smoother and more efficient.

This update method ensures that all users stay on the latest version without IT intervention after the first installation.
