Screen Scaling Issues in Navigator on Windows 11

Modified on Tue, 17 Jun at 10:44 AM

Some users have recently experienced screen scaling issues when using Navigator on Windows 11 devices. This has been caused by changes introduced in the .NET framework that affect how Windows handles screen scaling. Unfortunately, these changes conflict with the way Navigator manages its display, which has led to visual anomalies or interface problems for some users.

Background and Cause

Microsoft has made adjustments to screen scaling behaviour in recent Windows 11 updates via changes in the .NET framework. These changes were implemented without advance notice to our development team, resulting in unforeseen compatibility issues within Navigator.

In short, Windows now handles scaling differently than before, but Navigator's user interface has not yet been fully adapted to these new standards. This conflict can cause distorted UI elements, clipped screens, or misaligned text/buttons when scaling is above 100%, especially noticeable on high-resolution or large monitors.

Current Status

Our development team is actively working to resolve this across the Navigator system. However, this is a complex and wide-reaching task, and it will take time to implement a comprehensive fix that ensures full compatibility with the new .NET behaviour on all supported Windows 11 environments.

Workaround

While we work on a permanent solution, we recommend the following temporary workaround to improve display consistency in Navigator:

  • Lower the screen resolution on large or high-DPI displays.

  • Set screen scaling to 100%.

This reduces the likelihood of visual issues until updates are rolled out.

Who Is Affected?

  • Users running Windows 11.

  • Users with large monitors or high-resolution displays.

  • Users with scaling set above 100% (common on 4K screens and laptops connected to external monitors).
