1. PC Specifications
Minimum PC Requirements
To run Navigator effectively, the following minimum PC specifications are recommended:
- Processor: Dual Core
- Operating System: Windows 11 Professional (64-bit edition)
- Memory: 8GB RAM
- Storage: 10GB disk space
- Monitor: Widescreen Monitor (1920 × 1080 resolution or higher)
- Software: Microsoft Office 365 Desktop (optional, but required for Management Accounts, DOC production, and letter generation using Word)
These specifications represent a standard configuration typically available from 2019.
Virtualisation & Apple Mac Support
- Navigator will run on virtualised PC clients such as Remote Desktop, Citrix, or similar solutions, provided users have the necessary privileges to install software updates.
- No official support is provided for virtualised environments, so users should ensure the application functions as expected.
- Navigator is also supported on Apple Mac via virtualisation tools like Parallels or VMWare Fusion running Windows 11.
- Both ARM64 and Intel configurations work, but again, no official support is provided for these setups.
Important Considerations
- Continuous Updates:
- Navigator receives frequent updates, which may increase system requirements over time.
- Additionally, third-party software (such as Windows) continues to evolve, meaning PC specifications should be reviewed periodically.
- Regional Settings:
- Ensure the PC is configured correctly (e.g., regional settings) to avoid date-related errors.
2. Touch Screen PC Specifications
For workshops using the Technicians Clock, a touch screen PC is required. There are several setup options:
Setup Options:
Attach a Touch Screen Monitor to an Existing PC (Most Cost-Effective Option)
- Connect a DMS-provided or externally purchased touch screen monitor to a compatible PC.
- The monitor should connect via VGA or HDMI output.
Supply a Complete New PC
- All-in-One PCs: Combines the computer and monitor in one unit. (Note: If either component fails, the entire unit may need replacement.)
- Separate PC Base Unit: Traditional desktop PC with a separate touch screen monitor.
- Micro PC Mounted to Monitor: A compact PC mounted to the back of a touch screen monitor.

3. Printer Specifications
Navigator supports inkjet and laser printers that print directly from a local PC.
Important Notes:
- Dot Matrix Printers: Not supported.
- Volume Printing: Laser printers are recommended for high-volume printing.
- GDI Printers: Some low-end laser printers (e.g., certain Samsung, Dell, and Xerox models) may be incompatible with Navigator.
- Duplex Printing: A duplex printer is required for double-sided printing.
- Multiple Media Types: If using different paper types, card stock, or colours, a dual-bin printer may be necessary.
4. Retail Point-of-Sale (POS) Tills
Navigator supports retail POS systems, typically consisting of:

Recommended Components:
- Touch Screen Monitor: Any monitor with Windows drivers (ELO and IIyama recommended).

- Cash Drawer: Compatible with the auxiliary capability of the Bixolon printer (e.g., "Star" cash drawers).
- Barcode Scanner:
- Handheld: Honeywell 1200G (for single-line and omni-scanning).
- Hands-Free: Honeywell "Orbit" scanners.
- Barcode Printer: Samsung SRP770 and Zebra TLP 2844. (Requires labels: 45mm × 35mm, single row.)
5. Network Requirements
On-Site Solutions:
- The PC must have local network access to the on-site server.
Hosted Solutions:
- The PC must have unrestricted internet access through firewalls and routers via port 443 (HTTPS/SSL).
6. Software Requirements
- Microsoft Office 2016 or later
- Required for Marketing and Accounting features (e.g., Management Accounts).
- Anti-virus Software & Firewall:
- Ensure Navigator can be installed and updated without interference.
