High Resolution Monitor Support in Navigator

Modified on Mon, 8 Sep at 10:53 AM

In early 2025, Microsoft changed how Windows handles high resolution monitors. This affected laptops with high resolution screens and PCs with high resolution monitors attached.

Before the change, Navigator often appeared too small, or buttons and text boxes did not display properly.

From Navigator version 25.14.18 and above, Navigator adapts better to high resolution displays.

What Will You See?

If working correctly:

  • Text and buttons will appear larger.

  • Everything will be positioned correctly on screen.

Why This Matters

High resolution monitors with scaling enabled can cause Navigator screens to display incorrectly. Without adjustment, text and controls may overlap or fall outside the visible area. This disrupts normal work and makes Navigator difficult to use.

The Remaining Issue

On some high resolution monitors with high levels of screen scaling, Windows reduces the effective screen size below Navigator’s minimum requirement.

Navigator requires at least 1366 x 768 pixels in landscape.

Windows takes the monitor’s native resolution and divides it by the scaling factor.

Example:

  • Monitor resolution: 1920 x 1080 (1080p).

  • Scaling: 150% (1.5).

  • Effective resolution: 1920 ÷ 1.5 by 1080 ÷ 1.5 = 1280 x 720.

  • Result: Too small for Navigator, leading to jumbled or overlapping screens.

How to Fix It

  1. Right-click on the Windows desktop and select Display settings.

  2. If using multiple monitors, select the monitor where you run Navigator.

  3. Adjust the Scale setting.

    • Start at 100%.

    • Increase step by step until Navigator displays correctly.

    • Ensure the effective resolution stays above 1366 x 768.
