What is the difference between a warranty job and a service plan job?
A warranty job is work billed directly to the manufacturer at specific warranty rates. A service plan job is work billed under a contract arrangement (often with a third party) and typically requires a different parts uplift and a specific labour recovery approach.
Where should manufacturer warranty work be posted?
Standard manufacturer warranty work should always be processed through the Warranty Ledger.
Why should service plans not be invoiced using an "Other Account" route?
Using an "Other Account" route often pushes the income into the Sales Ledger. If the provider settles the claim via a self-billing invoice, this creates a massive reconciliation problem and can inadvertently strip away your parts margin.
How do I process service plan servicing that is billed through the warranty route?
When creating the workshop job, you must set the Chargeable To field to your specific Service Plan Warrantor Type, rather than the standard manufacturer warranty type. This ensures the work stays in the Warranty Ledger while applying the correct £ uplift and rates.
Where do self-billing invoices get posted?
Self-billing invoices should be posted to the Purchase Ledger. Once posted, they should be allocated against the original claims in the Warranty Ledger to settle the balance.
Why do we need a separate warrantor type for service plans?
Standard manufacturer warranty rules usually price parts at cost. However, service plans often allow for cost plus a percentage uplift and a different labour structure. A separate warrantor type allows Navigator to automate these different pricing rules.
What happens if the vehicle make name does not match the warranty rate table?
The rate will not be applied. The "Make Match" logic in Navigator is exact. For example, if your stock record says "SsangYong" but your rate table only says "KGM," the system will not find a match. You must have entries for every manufacturer name variation used in your records.
