How to Amend and Set Internal Service Rates

Modified on Mon, 14 Apr at 11:14 AM

Internal service rates are used when posting workshop labour to internal jobs, such as pre-delivery inspections (PDIs), used car preparation, or internal warranty work. These rates ensure that labour is correctly costed and accounted for without charging an external customer.

Setting appropriate internal labour rates helps maintain accurate job costing and profitability analysis, while also ensuring consistency in how internal work is valued across the business.

Where to Set Internal Rates

To view or amend internal labour rates:

  1. Go to Workshop > Service Parameters.

  2. Select Labour Rates.

  3. Locate the section labelled Internal.

In this section, you can enter the rate to be used for internal jobs. This can be set per hour or unit, depending on how your system is configured.

How the Rates Are Applied

  • The internal rate will be used automatically for any job that:

    • Is marked as internal in the job type.

    • Is assigned to an internal sales ledger account (rather than a retail or warranty account).

This ensures that the correct costing rate is applied without the need for manual intervention on each job card.
