How to Supersede Parts

Superseding parts allows you to update an existing part with a new part number while keeping the existing details, such as quantity and other record information.

Steps to Supersede a Part:

1. Navigate to Parts Management:

   • Go to Parts > View/Update Records.
   • Load the part number you want to supersede.

2. Initiate Supersession:

   • Click on the Global tab.
   • Press the Supersede button.

3. Enter the New Part Number:

   • The current part number will be displayed on the left side, and a field for the new part number will appear on the right side.
   • Enter the new part number and click Supersede.

4. Completion:

   • The part number will be updated, and any existing stock will be transferred to the new part record.

Removing a Supersession

• To undo a supersession, go back to the old part record.
• On the Global tab, press Supersede and then select Remove.

This will remove the supersession, restoring the original part record as needed.
