Consigning Vehicles in Navigator

Modified on Mon, 3 Mar at 11:52 AM

Vehicle consignment in Navigator allows for the recording of expected vehicle costs and facilitates smooth tracking until the vehicle is purchased. A vehicle consignment is a temporary record of a vehicle's expected cost and status before full ownership is taken. This approach is commonly used to manage vehicles during transit or before final adoption into stock. This guide explains how to post a vehicle consignment, update costs, and report on consigned vehicles.

Step-by-Step Instructions

Step 1: Post a Vehicle Consignment

  1. Open the Vehicle Stock Record.

  2. Navigate to the Purchase Status tab and select Post Consignment.

  3. The expected vehicle costs will be displayed. If these costs differ, update them by double-clicking the relevant line.

Step 2: Enter Consignment Details

  1. In the consignment screen:

    • Enter the Consignment Note (avoid using the lookup option unless you are a VW site with SLi integration).

    • Input the Date of the Consignment Note.

    • Provide the Expected Adoption Date (the date you plan to purchase the vehicle).

  2. To add missing costs:

    • Click on the Add Costs button and input the necessary details.

Step 3: Verify and Post

  1. Review all figures and ensure accuracy.

  2. Click Post to complete the consignment process.

    • The entry will be posted to the consignment nominal code *.30.60.81.

Reporting on Consigned Vehicles

  1. Go to Accounts > Nominal Ledger > Reports.

  2. Select Schedule Nominal Report.

  3. Configure the report to include nominal code *.30.60.81, replacing the * with the branch code.

  4. Ensure the report is scheduled by Stock Number for detailed tracking.

When the Vehicle is Adopted

  • Upon physical adoption of the vehicle, the system will automatically zero out the value in consignment stock (*.30.60.81).

Tips and Best Practices

  • Double-check details: Ensure all costs and dates are accurate before posting.

  • Avoid lookup misuse: Only use the lookup option for the consignment note if your site supports SLi integration (e.g., VW sites).

  • Regular reporting: Schedule nominal reports periodically to monitor consigned vehicles effectively.
