This guide explains how to manually post a consignment note for a new vehicle within Navigator. This process records the cost and sale price of a consigned vehicle and allows for additional costs to be added where required. It’s an essential step for accurate profit reporting and financial tracking on consigned stock.
VWG have integrated consignment features that auto-fill the consignment note details using the Lookup button. This guide covers the manual posting method.
Step-by-Step: Posting a Consignment Note
1. Open the Vehicle Stock Record
Log into Navigator.
Open the stock record for the relevant new vehicle.
2. Access the Purchase Status Tab
Click the Purchase Status tab.
Select the Post Consignment button.
A new window will appear on screen.
3. Enter Core Consignment Information
In the pop-up window:
Enter the Consignment Note Number.
Enter the Date of the note.
Enter the Adoption Date (this is the date the dealership assumes ownership for reporting purposes).
4. Review Sale and Cost Prices
The sale and cost prices will be displayed in the window.
If these are correct, continue to posting.
To Amend Pricing:
Double-click the relevant price line (either cost or sale).
Update the figures as required.
5. Add Additional Costs (if needed)
Click the Add Cost button.
Enter:
A description of the cost (e.g. transport, prep work).
The amount of the cost.
Click Add.
The new cost line will now appear in the Prices section of the consignment window.
6. Post the Consignment
Once all values are correct, click Post to complete the process.
Navigator will now:
Finalise the consignment note.
Update the vehicle’s cost and profit analysis.
After posting, the Post Consignment button will change to De-consign Vehicle. Use this if you need to reverse the consignment later.
