How to Disable High DPI Settings for Navigator to Fix Scaling Issues

Modified on Fri, 13 Jun at 9:54 AM

If the Navigator front page appears distorted, blurry, or incorrectly scaled on high-resolution displays, disabling High DPI settings may resolve the issue. While Windows automatically applies DPI scaling to improve readability on high-resolution screens, these settings can interfere with how Navigator is displayed. Turning them off ensures Navigator runs with its intended layout and proportions.

Steps to Disable High DPI Settings

1. Open the Properties Window for Navigator.exe

  • Locate the Navigator icon or executable (e.g. Navigator.exe) on your desktop or in File Explorer.

  • Right-click the file and select Properties.

  • Click on the Compatibility tab.

2. Open High DPI Settings

  • Click the Change high DPI settings button.

  • In the new window, under Program DPI, untick any option that is enabled (e.g. “Use this setting to fix scaling problems…”).

  • Ensure the dropdown labelled “Use the DPI that’s set for my main display when” is cleared or ignored (if previously set to "I open this program").

3. Turn Off DPI Scaling Override

  • Under High DPI scaling override, untick the checkbox for “Override high DPI scaling behaviour”.

  • This will disable any manual DPI scaling set for the application.

4. Apply and Save Changes

  • Click OK in the High DPI settings window.

  • Click Apply, then OK in the main Properties window.

  • Sign out of Windows or restart Navigator to apply the updated settings.

When Should You Turn Off High DPI Settings?

Disable High DPI settings if:

  • Text or UI elements in Navigator appear overly large or out of alignment.

  • Navigator's layout looks blurry or distorted after changing Windows display scaling settings.
