How to Map Nominal Codes

Mapping nominal codes keeps your accounts tidy. You use this to correct wrong postings or to hide suspense nominals that cancel each other. Your trial balance becomes clearer and easier to read.

Overview
Navigator lets you redirect one nominal code to another. The system then treats the original code as the new one when producing the trial balance.

When to use this
• A posting was sent to the wrong nominal.
• Two suspense nominals offset each other and you want them removed from the trial balance.
• You want to remove stray or unused nominals from the trial balance view.

Steps

1. Go to Accounts, Nominal Ledger, Utilities, Setup.

2. Open Trial Balance Setup.

3. Find the Nominal Re-Mapping Table.

4. Select Add.

5. Enter the nominal code you want to map from.
   • Fill in each relevant box.
   • A star in a box affects every code in that range.
   • Example. A star in the Br box affects all branch codes.

6. Enter the nominal code you want to map to.

7. Select Add.

8. Select Save.

Result
The trial balance will show the mapped code instead of the original code. This keeps your reporting clean.
