DVSA MOT History Integration – Automatic Credential Renewal

Modified on Thu, 22 Oct at 10:34 AM

Navigator integrates with the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) to retrieve MOT information, helping dealerships access vehicle MOT history and keep MOT expiry dates up to date.

Automatic Credential Renewal

Navigator now automatically renews the connection credentials used to access the DVSA MOT History service.

Previously, expired credentials could interrupt access to MOT information. This improvement helps maintain a more reliable connection and reduces the need for manual intervention.

No action is required from customers for the automatic renewal process. Navigator manages this in the background.

What Should Customers Expect?

When using the DVSA MOT History integration:

  • MOT information can continue to be retrieved through the existing Navigator functionality.

  • Connection credentials are renewed automatically to help prevent interruptions caused by expiry.

  • Customers do not need to manually renew these credentials as part of normal operation.

MOT information remains dependent on the availability of the DVSA service and the data held against the vehicle.

What to Do if MOT History Cannot Be Retrieved

If Navigator is unable to retrieve MOT information:

  1. Check the vehicle registration – Ensure the registration number is correct.

  2. Try again – A temporary connection issue or interruption to the DVSA service may prevent information from being returned.

  3. Check the DVSA website – Visit Check a vehicle's MOT history to see whether the information is available directly.

  4. Contact Navigator Support – If the information is available through DVSA but cannot be retrieved through Navigator, raise a Helpdesk ticket.

When contacting Support, please provide the vehicle registration, any error messages displayed and whether the problem affects one vehicle or multiple vehicles.

Important Information

Automatic credential renewal helps prevent interruptions caused by expiring connection credentials. However, it does not guarantee that MOT information will always be available.

Temporary DVSA service issues, connection problems or missing vehicle information may still prevent a successful lookup.

If MOT History retrieval continues to fail, Navigator Support can investigate the connection.
