How to Correct Closing Date Errors in the Accounts

Modified on Mon, 14 Oct at 1:55 PM

Closing date errors can no longer be corrected by the helpdesk, so it’s important to understand how to resolve these issues yourself if a deal has been closed and reopened incorrectly. While we are unable to amend the profit report, following this process will ensure that your accounts are accurate.

For more details on why these errors occur, please refer to this article:
Understanding Negative Values in the Profit Report and Their Causes

Steps to Correct Your Accounts:

  1. Go to Accounts > Nominal Ledger > Reports > Transaction Report, and search using the relevant stock number.
  2. Once the results are displayed, drag the headers for Nominal Code, Date, and Batch into the “group by” section to organise the report.

In the example provided, the vehicle should only be accounted for in August. Therefore, we will reverse the September-dated batch (705736). Note down the batch generated, and then reverse this newly created batch into the correct month (31/08/24) as shown below:

After completing this process, your accounts will be correct.

Additional Note:

To reverse batches, go to Nominal Ledger > Journals > Reverse Journal and enter the batch numbers you want to reverse.
