Using Profit Reports and Closing Deals

Modified on Mon, 5 May at 10:05 AM

This guide explains how to use the Pipeline Profit Report and Profit Report within Navigator’s Sales Manager’s Toolkit, and how to close vehicle deals. Closing deals ensures profit is recognised in the system and accurately reflected in your profit and loss statements.

Regular deal closure helps keep financial reports current and supports monthly performance tracking. https://youtu.be/bXovwLHjFA8

Accessing Profit Reports

  1. Open Navigator.

  2. Go to the Sales Manager’s Toolkit.

  3. Click the Reports tab at the top.

You will now see access to:

  • Pipeline Profit Report

  • Profit Report

Understanding the Two Reports

1. Pipeline Profit Report

  • Shows estimated profit on open deals.

  • Based on retail price and estimated cost.

  • Used to identify invoiced but unclosed deals.

Primary tool for monthly deal management and closure tracking.

2. Profit Report

  • Displays actual profit from deals that have been closed.

  • Used for final performance reporting.

Using the Pipeline Profit Report

Step-by-Step:

  1. Open the Pipeline Profit Report.

  2. Set filters as follows:

    • Invoiced Deals Only – leave as default.

    • Vehicle Type – leave as default.

    • Category – leave blank to include all deals.

    • Open Deals Only – keep ticked (to see deals needing closure).

    • Date From – first day of the month you’re reviewing.

    • Date To – last day of that month.

    • Branches – defaults to your own; select others if needed.

  3. Click Report to run the report.

You’ll see a list of all open deals that have been invoiced but not yet closed.

Sorting and Reviewing

  • You can sort or filter the report as needed.

  • Double-click a deal to open the related stock record.

Verifying Profit Before Closing

  1. In the stock record, go to the View/Post menu.

  2. Select Profit Analysis.

This shows:

  • Vehicle sale price

  • Costs incurred

  • Calculated profit

Confirm that everything looks correct before proceeding.

Closing the Deal

  1. Click Processing from the top menu.

  2. Select Close Deal.

Before confirming:

  • Check for any errors or warnings.

  • Confirm that the Close Date is correct (it should match the reporting period).

  • Click Close to complete the process.

After Closure

  • The deal will now appear in the Profit Report.

  • Profit is recorded in the relevant financial period.

  • The deal is removed from the Pipeline Report view.
