The Vehicle Stock List in Navigator provides an overview of your dealership's vehicles and their current status.
Understanding these statuses helps you identify which vehicles are on order, currently in stock, sold or awaiting preparation.
This guide explains the different statuses displayed on the Vehicle Admin Toolkit Stock List and what they mean.
What do the different vehicle statuses mean?
| Status | Description |
|---|---|
| On Order | The vehicle has been ordered from the manufacturer but has not yet been received into stock. |
| In Stock | The vehicle is currently held in dealership stock. |
| Adopted | The vehicle has been paid for and ownership has been taken by the dealership. |
| Sold | The vehicle has been sold to a customer. |
| Prep + | Vehicle preparation has been completed. |
| Prep - | Vehicle preparation has not yet been completed. |
Can a vehicle have more than one status?
Yes. A vehicle can have different statuses relating to its ordering, sales and preparation progress.
For example, a vehicle may be marked as On Order and Sold.
This means the vehicle has already been sold to a customer, even though it is still awaiting delivery from the manufacturer.
Similarly, a vehicle may be in stock but still show Prep -, indicating that preparation has not yet been completed.
These statuses help you understand where a vehicle is within the dealership's processes.
How to check a vehicle's status
Open the Vehicle Admin Toolkit in Navigator.
Run the Stock List.
Locate the vehicle you wish to review.
Check the Status column to identify its current status.
Review the associated vehicle details, including any relevant sales or preparation information.
This allows you to establish whether the vehicle is on order, in stock, sold or requires further preparation.
What is the difference between In Stock and Adopted?
Although these statuses may appear similar, they represent different aspects of the vehicle's progress.
In Stock indicates that the vehicle is held by the dealership.
Adopted indicates that the supplier has been paid and the dealership has taken ownership of the vehicle.
A vehicle's stock position and adoption status therefore provide different information.
Summary
The Vehicle Stock List provides a useful overview of your dealership's vehicles, helping you monitor stock availability, sales and preparation progress.
By understanding what each status means, you can more easily identify vehicles awaiting delivery, vehicles already sold and those requiring further preparation.
If a vehicle displays a status that you believe is incorrect, review the associated vehicle records or contact the Navigator Helpdesk for assistance.
