How to Use the WIP (Work In Progress) Report

Modified on Thu, 1 May at 1:20 PM

The WIP Report in Navigator provides a live overview of all jobs currently in progress within the workshop. It allows service managers and team leaders to monitor the status, type, and activity level of each job—helping identify delays, prioritise work, and track technician or parts usage. It is particularly useful for managing appointments, incomplete jobs, and multi-branch operations.

This report should be reviewed daily to ensure jobs are progressing appropriately and to support efficient service delivery.

Accessing the WIP Report

  1. Log into Navigator with your staff number and password.

  2. On the left-hand menu, click the Workshop dropdown.

  3. Select Service Manager’s Toolkit.

  4. At the top of the screen, click the Reports tab.

  5. Click the WIP icon.

Configuring the Report

Branch Selection

  • By default, the report will show jobs for the current branch.

  • To include other branches:

    • Click the Select button.

    • Tick the additional branches you want to include.

    • Click Close.

  • To remove selected branches:

    • Either click Reset, or

    • Untick the branch names and click Close again.

Excluding Invoiced Jobs

  • Tick the Exclude Invoiced Jobs option to remove jobs that have been invoiced but not yet released.

Interpreting the Report

Once generated, the WIP Report displays all active jobs, with columns indicating various details, including:

  • Job Type: e.g. warranty, sales, internal

  • Job Status: not started, in progress, completed, invoiced

  • Loan Car: indicates if a courtesy vehicle is assigned

  • Parts and Labour: flags if parts have been booked or technicians have clocked onto the job

A job will only display as an appointment if it contains at least one part booking or technician clocking, even if rescheduled for another day.

Filtering and Searching

  • You can use the search bar at the top of each column to filter results.

    • Example filters:

      • View only sales jobs

      • Show jobs with labour activity on a specific date

      • Isolate jobs marked as completed but not invoiced

These filters help pinpoint areas of concern or verify the current state of workshop appointments and productivity.
