Standard jobs allow you to predefine common service tasks—such as MOTs, oil changes, or diagnostics—with consistent labour times, pricing, and VAT rules. Setting up standard jobs streamlines service booking, improves efficiency at the front desk, and ensures workshop consistency.
This is particularly useful for:
Repeating fixed-price jobs
Ensuring accurate labour charges
Managing VAT-exempt services like MOTs
How to Create or Edit a Standard Job
Navigate to:
Workshop > Service Parameters > Standard Job
Select Standard Jobs to view existing entries.
Browse existing jobs using the drop-down list.
If the desired job already exists, you can edit it.
If it does not exist, click Create Job.
Enter the job title and any other relevant information (e.g. job type, department, description).
Proceed to the Standard Times/Prices section:
Select Default Line.
Enter the labour time and price for the job.
Click Update to save the standard time and pricing.
Then click the final Update button at the bottom of the screen to fully save the job setup.
VAT Configuration for MOTs
If the standard job should be VAT-free (as in the case of MOTs):
Ensure the VAT status is correctly set to zero-rated or VAT-exempt in the job configuration.
Double-check pricing lines to confirm that no VAT is applied.
Why It Matters
Setting up standard jobs helps:
Maintain pricing consistency across branches and service advisors.
Improve workshop scheduling accuracy with predefined times.
Ensure compliance with VAT treatment for specific services like MOTs.
